Awareness camp organized on World Pneumonia Day at Mata Kaushalya Hospital

Patiala 12th November:- Under the directions of Health Department Punjab and Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr. Sanjay Kamra, Mass Media Wing Patiala under the leadership of District Vaccination Officer Dr. Kushaldeep Gill celebrated World Pneumonia Day under the theme of ‘Child Survival’ in the OPD wing of the Children’s Department of Mata Kaushalya Hospital Patiala.
Giving information on this occasion, Dr. Kushaldeep Gill said that pneumonia is a serious disease and everyone needs to be aware of it. It is very important to get children fully vaccinated to protect them from the disease. In case of any kind of fever, cough, cold, it is very important to reach the nearest health center and consult a specialist doctor.
Young children should keep their distance from people with cold and flu because the germs of a pneumonia patient affect other people through breathing. It is important to pay special attention to the cleanliness of their surroundings and hands. Giving information on the occasion, Dr. Neha, a pediatrician, said that pneumonia is a respiratory infection that affects the lungs.
Pneumonia is caused by many pathogenic germs, including viruses, bacteria, and fungi. The main symptoms of pneumonia are chest pain when breathing or coughing, green or yellow mucus, fatigue, fever, sweating, shortness of breath, etc. Despite being a preventable and treatable disease, it is one of the leading causes of death in children under five years of age.
Therefore, children should be given only breast milk from birth to six months. In changing weather, the child's body should be protected from cold by covering it with warm woolen clothes, children should not be allowed to walk barefoot on the ground and there should be no smoke in the house, complete vaccination, use clean drinking water. This day is celebrated all over the world on November 12 every year.
