Awareness camp organized in Hajipur regarding prevention of child marriage
Hoshiarpur:- With the aim of effectively preventing a serious social evil like child marriage and making the common people aware of its ill effects, special child marriage awareness camps are being organized in Hoshiarpur district. This campaign was started from 27th November 2025, which is being continuously run in various rural and urban areas of the district. In this series, awareness camps were organized in various villages of Hajipur block today under the leadership of District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh.
Through these camps, parents, youth, school students and common citizens were given detailed information about the ill effects of child marriage, children's rights and the legal provisions related to it. During the camp, it was told that child marriage hinders the education of children, causes serious health problems and affects their overall development. The speakers clarified that according to Indian law, marrying a boy below the age of 21 and a girl below the age of 18 is a punishable offence.
Under the Child Marriage Prevention Act, there is a provision for strict legal action against those who arrange, support or incite child marriage. Along with this, the people were also made aware that if information about child marriage is found anywhere, it is the duty of every citizen to immediately inform the administration or the concerned department.
The District Administration Hoshiarpur appealed to the common people to come forward to end the social evil of child marriage and cooperate in providing education, safety and a bright future to children. This awareness campaign is proving to be an important step towards developing positive thinking in the society and increasing awareness about the law.
