AVT staff arrested 3 members of an interstate car theft gang
Ambala, February 22: Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police, Ambala, the district police is conducting a special drive to curb incidents of theft, robbery and snatching. The AVT team, while taking action in a case of car theft registered at Ambala Cantt police station, arrested three interstate accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Vineet Gautam and Shubham, residents of village Charasau, Police Station Sadar Patiala, Punjab, Gautam, resident of village Charasau, Police Station Sadar Patiala, Punjab and Tosif, resident of Asraf Ali Mohalla, Town Gangoh, District Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
AVT Incharge Inspector Rishipal stated that the complainant, Mr. Kulwinder Singh (resident of Patiala), had filed a complaint on November 15, 2025, stating that his car had been stolen by unknown thieves near Indra Park, Ambala Cantt, on November 10, 2025. Acting on technical evidence and information, the police had already arrested these three accused in a car theft case at the Baldev Nagar police station. The accused were arrested yesterday on a production warrant.
During the one-day police remand obtained from the Hon'ble Court, the accused were thoroughly interrogated. The interrogation revealed that this gang specifically targeted small vehicles and, after stealing them, had them scrapped.
At the accused's location, the police recovered ?21,500 in cash. This amount was obtained from the sale/dismantling of the stolen vehicle. The investigation also revealed that these accused have several other cases of vehicle theft registered against them in Ambala and surrounding areas. After the expiry of the remand period today, the accused have been sent to judicial custody as per the order of the Honourable Court.
