Atishi case Punjab Police sends reply to Delhi Vidhan Sabha

Chandigarh:- The Punjab government has sent a reply to the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Secretariat today in the case of opposition leader Atishi. The Punjab Home Department has confirmed that the word Guru was not used in the video with reference to the forensic report.
It may be recalled that the Speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha had sought a reply from senior officers of the Punjab Police in the Atishi video case.
On January 7, the Jalandhar Police had registered a case against an unknown person for editing Atishi's video and posting it on social media platforms based on a complaint.
The letter sent by the Home Department now states that the video was edited and posted to spoil the atmosphere in the border state. Punjab Police said that the original video posted by Atishi on her social media account did not contain any foul language, whereas later mischievous elements edited and presented Atishi's original video to create communal tension by inciting religious sentiments. Punjab Police has cited the report of the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Mohali that the word Guru was not used by the Leader of the Opposition Atishi.
The reply letter states that the Punjab Police is accountable to the concerned magistrate and the court. It has also been said that the Jalandhar Police has taken appropriate action as per the law. It is worth mentioning that the Speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha had sought clarification on the case registered by the Punjab Police under the 'violation of the privileges of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha'. The Speaker has earlier referred this matter to the Special Committee of Officers.
The Director General of Police (Punjab), Special Director General of Police (Cyber ??Crime), and Commissioner of Police Jalandhar had earlier sought 10 days time from the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat to file their response. Today, the Home Department has sent the response letter along with the reports of the Punjab Police to the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
