Assistant Commissioner Reviews Preparations for Civil Defense Blackout Mock Drill Exercise

Hoshiarpur:- On behalf of the District Administration, a Civil Defense Blackout Mock Drill Exercise is being organized in Hoshiarpur on Friday, April 24, 2026, to ensure that emergency situations arising during any untoward incident can be handled effectively. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner Parmpreet Singh held a meeting with the concerned departments at the District Administrative Complex on Thursday to review the preparations. He issued directives that all arrangements for the blackout mock drill exercise must be finalized in advance.
The Assistant Commissioner apprised the concerned departments—including the Power Corporation, Health Department, Civil Defense, Fire Brigade, Police Department, and Municipal Corporation—of their respective responsibilities. He also appealed to the residents of Hoshiarpur, requesting them to keep the lights in their homes and shops completely switched off for a duration of 20 minutes—from 8:00 PM (when the siren sounds) until 8:20 PM.
During this period, particular attention should be paid to keeping the lights installed on shop signboards switched off as well. He further informed that a mock drill would also be conducted at the local DAV College during this time.
Appealing to the general public, he emphasized that this is merely a mock blackout drill exercise and there is absolutely no need for panic. He urged all citizens to extend their full cooperation to the administration during this exercise. Present on this occasion were Assistant Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur and DSP Kartar Singh, along with officials from various other departments.
