Ludhiana/Jalandhar- From today, all RTO services in Punjab will be converted into Sewa Kendras. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Ludhiana today to inaugurate 100 percent faceless services of RTO. Addressing on this occasion, Arvind Kejriwal said that the country became independent in 1947.
We thought that if the British left, we would breathe easy, but for the last 75 years, people have become victims of bureaucracy. No individual's work is being done without bribery. People have become slaves of government offices. This work should have been done 75 years ago, which has happened in Punjab today.
Arvind Kejriwal said that people had to pay bribes to get their driving license, but now by calling 1076, our employees will go to people's homes and get their work done. Earlier, work did not get done until people caught the broker, but now there will be no need for brokers.
When people call, they will be asked what work they need to do. An employee will come to their house at the specified time with a photostat machine. All the departments will be locked and work will be done in a digital system. We will change the system.
From today, all 56 services related to driving license, registration record and vehicles will be available through service centers or online portals. There are 544 service centers in Punjab, which provide all the services of the transport department.
If people want to avail these services online, they can apply from their homes. Apart from this, if someone wants a representative of the service center to come to their house and get the work done, he can do so. Till now, 38 RTO services were available through the service center.
