Durgapur- A second-year student of a private medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, was allegedly raped on the premises of the college hospital. The incident is reminiscent of the 2024 R.G. Kar Medical College case that rocked the state, in which a junior doctor was raped and murdered.
The student hails from Jaleswar, Odisha, and is an MBBS student at a private medical college in Shobhapur area of ??Durgapur. According to police sources, the student had gone to have food outside the campus with her classmates at around 8:30 pm on Friday night. While returning, they were allegedly stopped by two or three youths.
One snatched her mobile phone, while the other dragged her to a deserted area and raped her. The victim's friend later admitted her to the same medical college. Police said that the investigation into the gang rape complaint is ongoing. The victim's statement has been recorded, and the role of her friend is also being investigated.
