Another disproportionate assets case registered against suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar
Chandigarh- The CBI has registered a fresh disproportionate assets case against suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar of Punjab Police. The central probe agency has already arrested Bhullar.
The CBI had arrested Bhullar on October 16 for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh as ‘service water’ from a scrap dealer. The CBI team later raided Bhullar’s ??residence in Sector 40, Chandigarh and seized Rs 7.5 crore in cash and 2.5 kg of gold ornaments from there. Apart from this, during the search operation, 26 luxury watches including Rolex and Rado brands, documents related to over 50 immovable properties in the names of family members and suspected benami entities, locker keys and details of several bank accounts and 100 live cartridges along with four weapons were also seized.
The police officer said that after Bhullar's arrest, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also operated several of his bank lockers. He said that the properties seized during the search revealed that the income of the suspended DIG is many times higher than the known sources.
Due to which the agency was prompted to register a fresh FIR against him. He said that the agency will take the seized wealth as a starting point and may reveal more properties during the investigation.
