Amritsar:- Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted an illegal arms smuggling module from across the border, arrested two accused and recovered 7 modern pistols along with 40 live cartridges. This information was given by DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Disclosing this on his social media account X, he said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in touch with foreign smugglers through social media apps and were receiving consignments of illegal arms through cross-border routes to supply arms to criminal elements. A case has been registered in this regard at Sultanwind Police Station, Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to identify other accomplices involved in the supply chain of illegal arms and to find out other links.
He said that Punjab Police is firmly committed to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms smuggling, organized crime and cross-border criminal networks.
