Agriculture Departments propaganda van will create awareness to prevent burning of wheat stubble

Hoshiarpur:- Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today flagged off propaganda vans from the District Administrative Complex to make farmers aware of not burning wheat stubble after harvesting. The Deputy Commissioner said that this propaganda van will go to various villages of the district for the next 40 days from today and motivate farmers to not burn wheat stubble.
Appealing to the farmers, he said that after harvesting wheat, the residue left after making it into straw should be mixed with the soil in the field itself with the help of agricultural equipment like rotavator, reverse plough etc. This will increase the fertility of the land and also prevent environmental pollution.
The Deputy Commissioner said that strict action will be taken against farmers who burn wheat stubble as per the instructions of the Air Quality Management Commission (AQMC).
