Agitated field workers hold protest demonstration at BML Complex

Patiala:- The PWD Field and Workshop Workers Union, Patiala Zone, staged a protest against the Executive Engineer of Bhakra Main Line (BML), Patiala, to demand the resolution of field employees' issues. The protest was led by Jasveer Singh Khokhar, Naresh Kumar, Dharampal Lot, and Nath Singh Bujrak.
Addressing the protest, state leader Darshan Singh Belumajra, Zone General Secretary Lakhwinder Singh Khanpur, Chhajju Ram, Krishan Chand Kulwanu, Rajinder Dhaliwal, and Harvinder Singh Sunam demanded that the arrears of the Pay Commission, which the government is supposed to pay in installments, be released immediately, as the first installment pending since April 2026 has not been issued. 
Their other demands included payment of pending medical and GP fund arrears for field staff, issuance of pending uniforms, provision of necessary tools for field work, arrangements for electricity and water at headworks, filling of vacant staff positions at headworks, reduction of duty hours at headworks from 12 hours to 8 hours, provision of torches at all headworks, and ensuring due leave for gauge readers and beldars.
The protest was also attended by Deepak Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Naresh, Bhajan Singh Lagg, Maan Singh, Bhajan Singh Rohti, Biru Ram, Ramesh Singh, and Federation District General Secretary Jaswinder Singh Soja. They warned the Executive Engineer (BML) that if the demands are not resolved through dialogue, the agitation will be intensified.
Following the protest at the BML Executive Engineer's office, the organization conducted a vehicle march. In accordance with the decision of the State Committee, as part of the ongoing movement from July 1 to July 10, a protest letter addressed to the government was submitted to the Water Supply Circle, Patiala.
