Administration fully alert regarding Municipal Elections Nikas Kumar
Hoshiarpur- Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Nikas Kumar held an important meeting today with officials from various departments in view of the upcoming municipal elections in the district. During the meeting, preparations to conduct the election process in a fair, peaceful, and transparent manner were reviewed.
Nikas Kumar stated that as per the guidelines of the Punjab State Election Commission, the notification for the general elections of Municipal Councils has been issued. He informed that voting will take place on May 26 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the counting of votes will be held on May 29. Informing the officials about their various election-related responsibilities, he instructed all departments to perform their duties with utmost seriousness and mutual coordination to ensure the smooth completion of the election process. He emphasized that ensuring compliance with the Election Commission's guidelines is the primary responsibility of all officers.
The Additional District Election Officer further added that candidates can file their nomination papers until May 16. Following this, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 18, and candidates will be able to withdraw their names until May 19. During the meeting, issues regarding election duty, appointment of polling staff, security arrangements, facilities at polling stations, availability of election material, and adherence to the Model Code of Conduct were discussed in detail.
