ACFI organizes awareness program on sustainable agricultural practices in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, May 29:- Agro Chem Federation of India (ACFI) today organized an awareness and dialogue program for agri-dealers and distributors of Punjab and Haryana. The objective of this program was to strengthen the collaboration between the agrochemical industry and channel partners to promote sustainable and scientific farming.
Held under the theme "Strengthening Dealer-Industry Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture," the program focused on critical topics such as responsible product usage, farmer awareness, stewardship initiatives, and safe agricultural practices amidst changing regulatory expectations.
The program was organized on Friday in Chandigarh by ACFI, a non-profit organization representing the Indian agrochemical industry.
ACFI Director General Kalyan Goswami said, "Agri-dealers and distributors are the first point of contact for farmers and therefore play a crucial role in guiding farmers on the scientific and balanced use of agrochemicals. The main focus of this program was to build farmers' trust through responsible advisory practices, dispel misconceptions regarding pesticide use, strengthen coordination between the industry and distribution network, and increase awareness among farmers at the grassroots level."
The program also discussed best practices for responsible agri-input retailing, prevention of counterfeit products, increasing productivity while ensuring environmental safety, and encouraging informed decision-making at the farm level.
Agri-dealers, distributors, retailers, field-level advisors, and sales & marketing professionals associated with the agricultural value chain participated in the program. The industry and channel partners pledged to play a more active role in promoting safe, scientific, and responsible agrochemical use and supporting the interests of Indian agriculture and farmers.
Goswami further added, "A strong collaboration between the industry and channel partners has become more critical than ever to support long-term agricultural sustainability, raise awareness about safe use, and strengthen compliance with evolving stewardship and regulatory frameworks."
The program also emphasized knowledge sharing, technical training, and the adoption of modern agricultural practices to balance productivity growth with environmental responsibility and user safety.
Sanjay Chaudhary of Indogulf Crop Sciences Limited, Dr. M. Irfan of Bharat Certis AgriScience Limited, and Dharam Kumar Bansal, Vice President of Agri Inputs Dealers Association (Regd.) Punjab, also addressed the program. They highlighted the role of dealers in debunking myths related to pesticide use, promoting sustainable agriculture, and ensuring the scientific application of agrochemicals.
