Accused Arrested in Shooting Murder Case of a Woman

Karnal, May 26: Acting under the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Singh, In-charge of the CIA-1 team of the Karnal District Police, authorities have arrested the accused—identified as Vikas Kumar alias Sanju, son of Satish Kumar, a resident of Salempur (District Kurukshetra)—in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman residing in Sector-9.
Addressing a press conference regarding this matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Kumar stated that on May 15, 2026, a woman was shot dead in the Sector-9 area following a dispute over parking. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's family members, a case was registered at the Sector-32/33 Police Station in Karnal.
Acting swiftly, the police team successfully identified the accused. During the search for the suspect, the police team encountered him; the accused opened fire on the officers, prompting a retaliatory response from the police in which the accused sustained two gunshot wounds. The injured suspect was admitted to a hospital for treatment; following his medical care, he was formally arrested on May 25, 2026.
The arrested accused was produced before the Honorable Court, and a six-day police remand has been secured. During this remand period, the accused will undergo intensive interrogation to uncover further facts pertinent to the case.
