Accused arrested in case of fraud under the guise of sending people abroad
Karnal, March 3:- A team from Police Post Nilokheri, under the jurisdiction of District Police Station Butana, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar, took major action in a case of fraud under the guise of sending people abroad. Saddam Hussain, son of Itrees Asnari, resident of Fazalpur Mahrila Tarai, Vihar Ward No. 25, Police Station Rudrapur, District Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand (currently residing at Shrishti Apartment, Kursi Road, Gudakha, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh) was arrested. The accused was brought from Motihari Jail, Bihar on a production warrant and placed on three-day police remand. During the remand, ?20,000 in cash was recovered from the accused.
The investigating officer stated that during interrogation, the accused admitted to working as an immigration agent and deceiving people by promising them work permits. He claimed to operate an office in Lucknow under the name Ejahan Immigration and was also advertising on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
According to the accused, in February 2024, the complainant, Sohan Lal, son of Hukamchand, resident of Bhadaso Chowk, Village Jhivarhedi, District Karnal, contacted him after seeing a social media advertisement. The accused lured him with a promise of a work permit to Luxembourg (Europe), England, and Australia for ?1.4 million.
The accused collected a total of ?7 million from the complainant on various dates, provided him with a fake Luxembourg work permit and visa appointment letter, then absconded and cut off contact. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC at Butana Police Station, Karnal, No. 29/2026. Today, upon the expiry of the accused's police remand, he was produced before the Honorable Court and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
