A major decision to improve traffic in Una city

Una, November 28—The district administration has taken significant action to streamline traffic flow and control congestion in Una city. District Magistrate Jatin Lal issued two important orders on Friday, declaring the road from DC Chowk to Degree College a no-parking and no-vending zone with immediate effect.
In addition, a one-way system for four-wheel-drive vehicles has been implemented on the route from Rotary Chowk, the busiest part of the city, via Purana Bazaar to National Highway 503. The administration clarified that these steps were taken to maintain traffic discipline, pedestrian safety, and improve the overall order of the city.
The orders stated that unauthorized parking, the proliferation of shops, and the placement of goods on the road and footpaths on the DC Chowk to Degree College road consistently caused traffic jams. This not only affected public movement but also increased the risk of disruption to emergency services.
Under the new arrangement, parking of any vehicle other than two-wheelers will be strictly prohibited on this route, and strict action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act if vehicles are parked on either side of the road. Furthermore, the entire area has been declared a no-vending zone, prohibiting any type of hawker, cart, street vending, or obstruction of the footpath.
According to another order, the route from Rotary Check to Old Market, Post Office, Arvind Marg, and NH-503 Extension in the city has been declared a one-way for four-wheeled vehicles. Entry of four-wheeled vehicles from Arvind Marg will be strictly prohibited. Furthermore, the entire area from Rotary Check to the MC parking lot and Ayurvedic Hospital will also be a no-parking and no-vending zone. Any type of shopping or parking on the road, footpath, and public spaces will be prohibited, and strict action will be taken against violators.
The administration has decided to implement these orders from November 29, 2025. DC Jatin Lal clarified that the city's roads are limited, and uncontrolled parking and illegal vending disrupt traffic flow. He stated that instructions have been issued to the police, municipal corporation, and subdivision administration to ensure strict compliance with these orders.
It is noteworthy that DC Jatin Lal also issued important orders on November 23rd, addressing the increasing traffic congestion in Una city and the inconvenience caused to the general public. Under these orders, the movement of heavy vehicles from DC Checkpoint to the Mehtpur barrier has been strictly regulated. The movement of tipper trucks is strictly prohibited along the entire route, while the entry of commercial heavy vehicles will remain prohibited from 8 am to 9 pm.

**Be a partner in efforts to make Una a peaceful, orderly, and prosperous district**
DC Jatin Lal stated that according to police inputs, some people coming from outside states often set up unregistered street vendors, engage in illegal activities, and pose a threat to public order.
Increased surveillance on such individuals is essential. He said that efforts had been made to improve the system in the past, but lack of public support led to slackness. This time, the administration would take strict action to ensure a better, safer, and more orderly city in Una.
Appealing to the public for cooperation, he said that the administration is sensitive to every legitimate demand, but maintaining order is everyone's shared responsibility. He called for active cooperation in making Una a peaceful, well-organized, and prosperous district.
