A highrisk lifesaving airway stenting procedure was performed at Livasa Hospital Mohali
Chandigarh: A 38-year-old woman with advanced breast cancer successfully underwent a high-risk, life-saving airway stenting procedure at Livasa Hospital, Mohali.
This complex case was managed by Dr. Kritarth, Consultant Pulmonary Medicine, along with a team from Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Anesthesia. The patient was admitted to Livasa in critical condition with difficulty breathing due to obstructed right and left main airways due to tumor proliferation. She required non-invasive ventilator support and was in critical condition.
The procedure presented significant technical challenges, as the tumor tissue was extremely fragile and prone to bleeding upon contact. Despite these risks, the expert team successfully placed an airway stent, restored airway access, and stabilized the patient's breathing. Following the intervention, the patient showed improvement and was discharged breathing comfortably on room air without ventilator support.
Dr. Kritarth said, "Airway stenting in such complex situations requires precision, experience, and teamwork. In this case, the obstruction in both the main bronchi and the tumor was highly vascular, making the procedure technically demanding.
Anurag Yadav, CEO-Livasa Hospitals, said, "This case highlights our commitment to providing advanced high-end medical care even in critical situations.
