A Grand Gurmat Samagam Held at Gurdwara Shaheeda Ladhewal Mahilpur
Hoshiarpur: A Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) was organized at Gurdwara Shaheeda Ladhewal, Mahilpur, under the leadership of the Gurdwara Manager, Gurdial Singh. This event was conducted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the global Sikh congregation, in collaboration with the Sahibzada Baba Ajit Singh Ji Sewa Society of the Mahilpur region.
This grand Gurmat Samagam was dedicated to the arrival of the New Year—the 1st of Chet—according to the Nanakshahi Sammat 557 calendar. The program was held from 7:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight.
During the event, prominent Ragi (hymn singers), Dhadi (balladeers), Katha Vachak (religious expositors), Kirtani Jathas (hymn-singing groups), and Kavishars (poets) of the Panth spiritually uplifted the congregation through soul-stirring Gurbani Kirtan, religious discourses, Dhadi ballads, and poetry.
Participants included Bhai Gurbhej Singh (Hazoori Ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib), Balvir Singh Hussainpuri (Kavishar, Dharam Prachar Committee), Giani Manjit Singh Ludhiana (Panthic Dhadi Jatha), Bhai Palwinder Singh (Head Granthi and Katha Vachak, Gurdwara Charan Kamal Sahib, Banga), Bhai Harmesh Singh (Hazoori Ragi, Gurdwara Shaheeda Ladhewal), and Bhai Gurjinder Singh (Katha Vachak, Gurdwara Shaheeda Ladhewal). Among the dignitaries present on this occasion were Jathedar Baba Nihal Singh Ji of Harian Velan, Baba Jang Singh, Baldev Singh Kalyan (Junior Vice President), Dr. Daljit Singh Bhinder (Interim Committee Member), Dr. Jang Bahadur Singh Rai (Interim Committee Member), Contractor Surinder Singh of Bhullewal Rathan, Sant Harmeet Singh, Sant Jagtar Singh (Gurdwara Bana Sahib, Bahowal), Contractor Hardeep Singh (Sarpanch, Bahowal), Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khera, Ajesh Gupta (Admin, Quantum Paper Mill, Saila), Kamalpreet Singh (Senior DGM, Paper Mill, Saila), Lakhbir Singh Rana of Dansiwal, Paramjit Singh of Meghowal, Manohar Singh of Scruli, Tarlochan Singh of Scruli, Daya Singh of Meghowal, Parminder Singh of Mahilpuri, Harbans Singh of Sarhala, Lavpreet Singh of Khanpur, the prominent social worker Jaspal Singh 'Pala' of Khanpur, Kulvir Singh of Gobindpuri, Avaran Singh of Bahowal, Harminder Singh Sandhu (Halka In-charge), Surjit Singh of Khanpuri, and Jagmohan Singh 'Jaggi' of Haveli; in addition to these, a vast multitude of devotees and dignitaries were in attendance.
On behalf of the organizers, these individuals were honored with *Siropas*—robes of honor—signifying the blessings of the Guru's House. Throughout the event, *Guru ka Langar* (community meals) was continuously distributed to the congregation.
