A big step towards making Haryana climateresilient

Chandigarh, April 1:- Haryana Forest and Environment Minister Rao Narbir Singh said that the state government is taking a big and visionary step towards making Haryana climate-resilient. Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini has proposed to set up Haryana Green Climate Resilient Fund with a seed provision of Rs. 100 crore in the budget speech for the year 20226-27.
He said that this fund will encourage investment in areas like zero-emission vehicles, renewable energy, energy efficiency, water conservation, greening, climate-resilient agriculture and natural-based resources in the state. Its aim is to balance air and water pollution at the national level and make Haryana a clean, green and eco-balanced state in line with the goal of net-zero emissions by the year 2070.
Rao Narbir Singh said that the government is taking concrete steps to solve the problems related to pollution not only at the policy level but also at the ground level. In this regard, the problem of polluted water coming from Dharuhera area of ??Rajasthan to Maisani Barrage of Rewari district has been taken seriously, due to which the fertile agricultural land of 16 to 17 nearby villages is being affected.
He said that due to excess chemical waste in this water, the quality of the soil is being adversely affected. Instructions have been given to prepare a comprehensive and practical plan of the Irrigation Department for a permanent solution to this problem.
He clarified that the flow of water in the Maisani Barrage is natural, which cannot be stopped completely. In such a situation, a project connected to National Highway-48 will be prepared under the overall solution, the estimated cost of which will be Rs. 150 crore. The National Highways Authority of India will contribute Rs. 100 crore and the Haryana and Rajasthan governments will contribute Rs. 25 crore each.
Apart from this, the state government is also working towards starting a special mission to make the 313 km long Yamuna river pollution free. This mission will be run under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, under which important works like increasing the sewage treatment capacity, stopping uncontrolled waste flow, current monitoring of industrial units, conservation of river banks, green belt development and groundwater recharge will be done.
He said that during the year 20226-27, scientific treatment of water from all drains falling into Yamuna will be ensured, so that the river can be made clean and pollution free. Rao Narbir Singh expressed confidence that with all these initiatives, environmental protection in Haryana will get a new direction and the state will move rapidly towards sustainable and green development.
