Punjab Government Accelerates HighTech Rural Transformation
Dhuri/Sangrur, February 18:- In a significant step towards holistic rural development, the Punjab Government is transforming villages into high-tech, well-equipped habitats by integrating modern technology into basic infrastructure. The installation of LED street lighting and CCTV surveillance systems is now becoming an integral part of rural development, enhancing safety, sustainability, and quality of life across villages.
Village Kaulsedi in the Dhuri constituency has emerged as a shining example of this progressive initiative. At a cost of ?14 lakh, as many as 175 solar LED street lights have been installed, ensuring well-lit streets and safer mobility during night hours. Further strengthening security arrangements, 26 CCTV cameras have been installed in the village at an expenditure of ?5 lakh.
Sharing details of ongoing development works, Sarpanch Veerpal Kaur stated that interlocking tiles are being laid along the village phirni at an estimated cost of ?20 lakh to facilitate smooth and hassle-free movement. In addition, a ?32 lakh wastewater management project based on the Seechewal Model is being implemented to ensure scientific disposal of wastewater, marking a major stride towards cleanliness and environmental conservation.
She further informed that a memorial gate is being constructed in honour of Shaheed Maninder Singh at a cost of ?10 lakh. Simultaneously, construction of a Dharamshala worth ?10 lakh is also underway to provide better community facilities.
The village pond, complemented by the construction of a mamti (pavilion), has also been aesthetically developed and is now emerging as a focal point of attraction for nearby villages. Residents are increasingly visiting the site during celebratory occasions for photographs and gatherings.
Emphasizing sustained progress, the Sarpanch stated that continuous efforts are being made to ensure comprehensive development of the village, and additional projects will be implemented in the coming time.
BDPO Dhuri, Sukhwinder Singh, informed that similar initiatives, including installation of solar LED lights and CCTV cameras along with other essential amenities, are being carried out in other villages of the Dhuri block to make them safe, clean, and modern.
Villagers expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the government’s proactive approach, stating that these development initiatives are significantly transforming the overall landscape and living standards of the village.
