Karnal, October 2: Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan participated in a cleanliness drive in Dharmpura village of the Gharaunda constituency today. He paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, by laying flowers at his portrait. He urged people to pledge to eliminate evil within themselves and embrace goodness on Dussehra.
The Assembly Speaker said that young people should draw inspiration from the lives of both great personalities. Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, adopted the path of "Ahimsa Paramodharma" by pledging to abstain from violence in thought, word, and deed. Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri coined the slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan." Their honesty and simplicity are unparalleled. Both personalities possessed remarkable leadership qualities.
Mr. Kalyan said that today is the last day of the Seva Pakhwada (service fortnight) launched on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. The purpose of this celebration is to awaken the spirit of service in people. Along with service, a person should also have compassion. Service and festivals are part of culture. They should be celebrated together, fostering brotherhood and harmony. Dussehra symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. On this day, the effigy of Ravana is symbolically burned.
The Assembly Speaker stated that the mother power has always been revered in society. Respecting them increases power. If women are strong, the nation and society will also progress. Over the past ten and a half years, numerous development projects have been undertaken for the progress of Gharaunda. The constituency needs to be taken to even greater heights in the future, and public support is essential for this.
