Maur Mandi- In today's era of technology, mobile has become a necessity for everyone. Every work seems incomplete without a mobile. With the internet facility, it has become even easier. But now due to the high cost of recharge and reduced commission, the condition of shopkeepers has become worse. Earlier, the validity of mobile SIM was for life time.
But in 2014, the telecom company Jio forced the other companies to follow its lead. While the lifetime validity of SIM was abolished and recharge was also made expensive, the work of shopkeepers has also almost come to a standstill. Earlier, shopkeepers used to get good commission on selling SIM.
Earlier, the commission was 2.5%, although now the telecom companies have increased the commission to 3%, but neither the number of SIMs sold is as high as before. Nor are any schemes given by the telecom companies so that shopkeepers get good commission. In this unsustainable inflation, where telecom companies are increasing recharges daily, the common man's pocket is being robbed, and due to the reduction in commission, most of the shopkeepers have left this work or are leaving.
But the profit of the companies has doubled. Sandeep (fictitious name), a shopkeeper from Maur, said that telecom companies are pressuring shopkeepers and customers to port their mobile numbers, but the distributors themselves are going to the villages and porting mobile numbers for free and also giving gifts to the customers. He said that in this way, our shopkeepers have already been eliminated by the companies and the remaining amount is completed by the distributors.
Due to which the shopkeepers are forced to work on very small profits. The common people and shopkeepers are demanding from the government that the recharge rates be reduced so that every poor person can get their mobile recharged. And the commission on selling and recharging SIMs should be increased so that they (shopkeepers) can continue to earn a living during this time of inflation.
