Karnal, September 29: Addressing villagers at a program organized in Rahda village, Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Rural Development Institute, Nilokheri, said that burning stubble not only depletes soil fertility but also causes widespread pollution and is detrimental to health.
Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan told farmers that proper management of stubble, instead of burning it, can become an excellent source of animal fodder, organic fertilizer, and biogas. On this occasion, he handed over a baler machine provided by the ISAP Foundation to the Gram Panchayat to the villagers so that farmers can use it collectively and avoid burning stubble in their fields.
He also said that ISAP is continuously supporting farmers in stubble management and sustainable farming, opening up new possibilities for environmental protection and increasing farmers' income in villages.
Earlier, he listened to the Prime Minister's "Mann Ki Baat" program with the villagers. On this festive occasion, Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan urged people to use indigenous products. He said that festivals like Diwali, Navratri, and Dussehra will only be meaningful if we use goods made in our villages and the country. This keeps our traditions alive and provides employment to local artisans, women, and small industries.
The villagers present took a collective pledge to stop burning stubble and adopt indigenous products.
On this occasion, Sarpanch representative Randeep, Narendra Rana of Gramodaya Abhiyan, social worker Rinkle Rana, Surendra Rojda, former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Balla Mandal, Sandeep Saini, Ravindra Rojda, Ravindra Rana, Babli Rana, Mandeep Rana, Praveen Rana, Subhash Rana, Sompal Panch, Gaurav, and a large number of farmers were present. All of them appreciated Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan's call and pledged to spread it to every village.
