Karnal, October 2: Angered by the lack of basic amenities in Alpha International, a housing society built twenty years ago and home to 1,300 families, local residents burned an effigy of Alpha City's colonizer, Santosh Agarwal, in the form of Ravana. A funeral procession was also taken out beforehand.

The protest was organized by the Alpha Residential Welfare Association. Hundreds of residents, including women, men, and children, participated in the demonstration. The protest was led by President Prabhjot Singh Sidhu. The protesters gathered in front of Indri Gate and then marched to Gate No. 1 on the highway, shouting slogans.
The protesters held placards and carried the effigy. The protesters chanted slogans against the Alpha management and the government. Association President Prabhjot Singh said that residents of Alpha City are not getting basic amenities. The roads here are in a dilapidated condition, making it difficult for people to walk. Vehicles are unable to ply on the roads. Furthermore, there are problems with streetlights, drainage, and drinking water.
They stated that if their problems are not resolved, they will observe a "Black Day" on November 1st. They will then march on foot to Chandigarh. Local MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap has raised the issue in the Assembly, but his concerns have fallen on deaf ears. Residents have met with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister MLA Jagmohan Anand, Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, and Yoginder Rana.
On this occasion, the women expressed concern that the management dumps dirty water into the parks, causing a persistent stench. The sanitation situation is poor. RWA members Kuldeep Wadhaich, Praveen, Sanjeev, Amrit, Sandeep Sharma, Surendra Rajesh Narula, Naitra Singh, Balraj, Sachin, and Aarjav Sharma were present, along with many others.
