Drug and prostitution nexus running with the help of senior officers of Punjab Police exposed – CBI probe demanded
Chandigarh- Senior Chandigarh BJP leader and retired IAS officer SR Ladhar has demanded a CBI probe into drug trafficking, prostitution and the involvement of police and political leaders in it in Punjab.
Chandigarh- Senior Chandigarh BJP leader and retired IAS officer SR Ladhar has demanded a CBI probe into drug trafficking, prostitution and the involvement of police and political leaders in it in Punjab.
Talking to the media, Ladhar said that recently a shocking audio clip went viral on ‘The Harpreet Show’ YouTube channel, in which a senior IPS officer, posted at a sensitive field post in Punjab, can be heard talking to a woman associated with prostitution at the cost of two women. If this conversation is found to be true, it not only exposes moral decay but also the dangerous criminal nexus running at the highest level of the state’s police force.
This case is not isolated. IPS officer Rajjit Singh and Inspector Inderjit Singh have already been declared absconders in a drug smuggling case. Recently, a woman constable, Amandeep Kaur, posted in Bathinda, was arrested with heroin and dismissed from service. She is also accused of being part of this unethical and illegal drug-dealing nexus.
These incidents point to a deep and growing criminal nexus in the Punjab Police, with the possible protection or involvement of top officials. They raise serious questions about the failure of law and order in Punjab under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Former IAS officer and BJP SC Morcha president S.R. Ladhar has demanded an immediate and high-level CBI inquiry, which would include:
1. Examination of the viral audio clip and identification of the voices.
2. Investigation into the activities of the concerned IPS officer and the dismissed woman constable.
3. Detailed investigation into the police-NRI nexus involved in drug trafficking and corruption.
Ladhar said that during his tenure as the Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar, he had recommended to the Punjab government to investigate the nexus of police officers and some NRIs involved in drug trade, but no action was taken.
“The silence and inaction of the Punjab government has further emboldened this criminal network. As IPS officers come under the Central Government, I have appealed to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji to intervene and order a CBI probe. Punjab cannot be betrayed from within,” Ladhar said.
He further warned that the drug problem has already destroyed generations in Punjab, and if the police officers themselves are part of this nexus, then the matter has become a threat to national security.
