Voters should be made aware through 'sweep' activities: Daljit Singh Mangat

Patiala, December 15 - In the district, sweep activities are being carried out to educate voters along with revision of voter lists, making votes of 18-year-old youth, removing deceased voters and logical errors from the voter list. Today, Patiala Mandal Divisional Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat held a special meeting with representatives of all political parties and election officers of the district to take stock.

Patiala, December 15 - In the district, sweep activities are being carried out to educate voters along with revision of voter lists, making votes of 18-year-old youth, removing deceased voters and logical errors from the voter list. Today, Patiala Mandal Divisional Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat held a special meeting with representatives of all political parties and election officers of the district to take stock.
Addressing the representatives of all the political parties present during the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat said that it is necessary that every eligible voter should be included in the voter list and especially new voters. He said that a special campaign should be conducted at every village, ward and booth level to make every voter a part of the voter list. He asked to create awareness about votes among the voters by contributing maximum in 'sweep' activities.
Divisional Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat also emphasized on the need to update the vote of newly married girls and make the vote of 18-year-old youth. He said that students who cannot come here to cast their vote due to studying abroad can apply through online method. He said that sweep activities should be intensified to make the citizens aware of the responsibility of voting apart from making the votes of the citizens who are lagging behind in casting their votes, especially the newly married girls, the disabled and the citizens of the third gender.
He also urged the voters to download the Voter Help Line app to connect with the election process. On this occasion, Tehsildar Ramji Lal along with representatives of political parties Harichand Bansal, Shubhwinder Singh, Mohinder Singh, Surinderjit Singh, Kishan Kumar, Ramesh, Ratinder Singh, Rajnish Shourie, Madanjit Singh and Labh Singh were present.
