Chandigarh, August 27 - The monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha was significant in many ways. During the discussion on the adjournment motion moved by the opposition on law and order, concern was expressed that there is a growing trend of glorifying gangsters and criminals on some social media platforms. After a serious discussion on this issue, the House unanimously passed the motion and agreed to send this motion to the media platforms.
Development and Panchayat Minister Shri Krishan Lal Panwar moved this motion in the House on behalf of the government. He said that glorifying criminals projects their image as heroes among our youth. This trend not only weakens the cultural and moral foundation of the society, but also damages the hard work of the police force working day and night to maintain law and order.
He said that the House is of the opinion that all media institutions should refrain from any form of glorification of criminals and gangsters. Their names and pictures should not be published at all.
The House passed this resolution unanimously, in which it was strongly appealed to the media platforms to discourage the trend of glorifying criminals with full vigilance and in its place give priority to such ideas and individuals that inspire the new generation to follow the path of education, hard work and truth.
Assembly Speaker Mr. Harvinder Kalyan also associated himself with this resolution and assured that this resolution would be conveyed to all media platforms by the Haryana Assembly.
