
Strict action by the Agriculture Department regarding the excessive sale of urea in Hoshiarpur district.
Hoshiarpur- The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Punjab has launched a special enforcement drive to stop the improper sale of urea by fertilizer vendors and dealers across the state. This campaign was launched under the orders of the Administrative Secretary of the department, Dr. Basant Garg and under the supervision of the Director Agriculture, Punjab, Jaswant Singh.

This campaign was launched under the orders of the Administrative Secretary of the department, Dr. Basant Garg and under the supervision of the Director Agriculture, Punjab, Jaswant Singh.
Under this campaign, a team was formed for special investigation in Hoshiarpur district, which included the Chief Agriculture Officer, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Dr. Karanjit Singh and the Agricultural Development Officer (Enforcement), Hoshiarpur, Dr. Jatin Vashishth. This investigation campaign was conducted with the cooperation of all the block agriculture officers of the district. Special teams were deployed at each block level, which are conducting a thorough investigation by reaching the locations of retailers and dealers reported to be selling excessive urea.
The inspection included a complete stock check, invoice audit, and reconciliation of supply-sale records. The objective of this enforcement drive is to ensure that urea is made available to the right farmers in a proper and transparent manner during the peak sowing period.
The department reiterated that no kind of black marketing, stock hoarding or any other irregularities in the fertilizer supply chain will be tolerated. The agriculture department has also appealed to the farmers and the general public that if any fertilizer dealer is charging higher rates, creating artificial shortages or any suspicious activity is found, then a complaint should be filed immediately so that necessary action can be taken.
