As part of the celebration of Van Mahotsav 2025 by UT Chandigarh, a special drive was organized at Government College of Education here today

Chandigarh- Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria along with Shri Mandeep Brar, IAS, Secretary Home, UT Chandigarh; Shri Sorabh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests; Shri Anoop Soni, IFS, Conservator of Forests; Shri Navneet Srivastava, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Shri Raj Kumar Singh, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh and Shri Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director Higher Education, UT Chandigarh and Shri Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, UT Chandigarh planted saplings in the college campus. Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda welcomed the guests. The drive was organized by the NSS and Eco Club of the college.

Hon’ble Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized the importance of tree plantation and conservation, and highlighted its role in maintaining the necessary ecological balance and making the future greener. He also appreciated the efforts of NSS units, Eco Club and college administration for organizing this event. 120 saplings were planted in the college campus, which already has hundreds of thriving trees.
On the occasion of Van Mahotsav, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria led the initiative by planting trees at 23 sites out of the total 253 sites across the city where tree plantation was done. The aim of this celebration on such a large scale was to promote environmental awareness, conservation and sustainability among the citizens. The tree plantation drive was a great success, with students, faculty members and dignitaries actively participating.
The celebration of Van Mahotsav 2025 reflects the commitment of the UT administration towards environmental protection and conservation. This initiative is expected to inspire citizens to actively participate in tree plantation and conservation efforts, thereby contributing to making this city beautiful, clean and green.
