Punjab Government releases crores of rupees under Ashirwad Scheme.

Fatehgarh Sahib: The financial assistance scheme of Rs. 51,000 under the Ashirwad Scheme provided by the Punjab Government on the occasion of marriage of girls from Scheduled Castes, Christian community, Backward Classes and economically weaker families is proving to be very beneficial for the beneficiaries of the district and so far, 2968 beneficiaries of Fatehgarh Sahib district have been given financial assistance of Rs. 15 crore 13 lakh 68 thousand under the Ashirwad Scheme.

Fatehgarh Sahib: The financial assistance scheme of Rs. 51,000 under the Ashirwad Scheme provided by the Punjab Government on the occasion of marriage of girls from Scheduled Castes, Christian community, Backward Classes and economically weaker families is proving to be very beneficial for the beneficiaries of the district and so far, 2968 beneficiaries of Fatehgarh Sahib district have been given financial assistance of Rs. 15 crore 13 lakh 68 thousand under the Ashirwad Scheme.
 Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind said that under the scheme, Rs. 10 crore 14 lakh 39 thousand has been released to 1989 beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes and Rs. 4 crore 99 lakh 29 thousand has been released to 979 beneficiaries belonging to Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections.

He said that under the Ashirwad scheme, girls from Scheduled Castes, Christian community, Backward Classes and economically weaker sections, daughters of widows of any caste and widows of Scheduled Castes and divorced women are given financial assistance of Rs. 51,000/- at the time of their remarriage.
 He said that the amount given under the Ashirwad scheme is being sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the DBT system. He said that payments have been made under the scheme till February 2025 and further action is in progress in the pending cases with the department.
