Haryana/Hisar: District Congress Committee, Hisar today organized a special tribute meeting at Congress Bhawan, Hisar on the occasion of 81st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi.
The program was presided over by District Congress Committee (Rural) President Brijlal Bahbalpuria. The program started by offering flowers to the picture of Rajiv Gandhi and observing two minutes of silence.
Addressing the gathering, Brijlal Bahbalpuria said that Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest and visionary Prime Minister of India. He gave India the direction of the 21st century through information technology, computer revolution, Panchayati Raj and education reforms.
He said that “Rajiv Gandhi ji always considered youth and women as the center of nation building. Today when the BJP government is ignoring farmers, youth and common people, then we have to remember Rajiv's thoughts and ideals and follow his path. Only Congress workers will become the true voice of the people against the anti-people policies of BJP.”
Bahbalpuria further said that today's BJP government is weakening the unity and brotherhood of the country, whereas Rajiv Gandhi ji's dream was of an India based on unity, peace and progress. The Congress party is struggling to take forward the same ideology.
