In urban Hoshiarpur, anti-dengue activities were carried out at plant nurseries, construction sites, vacant plots and other places under the leadership of District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep Singh.

Giving information about this, Dr. Jagdeep Singh said that in urban Hoshiarpur today 9 teams checked mosquito larvae and destroyed the larvae on the spot by draining out water from the containers and where drainage of water was not possible, larvicide was sprayed at appropriate places.
He said that during these activities everyone was made aware that water / rain water etc. should not be filled in any type of container and containers filled with water should be emptied and dried at least once a week. Tires, broken buckets, plastic containers, disposable cups-plates and many other types of containers should not be thrown in the open or on the roofs.
Dr. Jagdeep Singh said that personal safety measures are also necessary to avoid mosquito bites. Such as wearing full-sleeved clothes during the day, using mosquito repellent cream, using mosquito nets and taking full care of cleanliness and following the guidelines issued by the Health Department. He said that by taking small precautions we can avoid diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
He said that the test and treatment of dengue fever is free in all government hospitals. In case of any type of fever, one should only take paracetamol tablets and get immediate test and treatment done at the nearest health center.
