It is worth noting that Ashu is the Congress candidate for the ongoing by-election to the Ludhiana West constituency of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

According to information received from sources, the summons sent to Bharat Bhushan Ashu by the Vigilance Bureau last night in the New High School scam were sent by the SSP himself at his own level. It has also been learned that Bharat Bhushan Ashu and the SSP were in constant communication for the past few days.
These summons were sent by him at a time when the campaign for the Ludhiana by-election is in full swing. According to sources, the government had received information through intelligence that the SSP had held a secret meeting with Ashu recently and had issued these summons to directly benefit him in the by-election.
According to the information, the government has currently suspended SSP Jagatpreet Singh. However, there has been no official confirmation in this matter yet.
