Four months ago, the murder of a son shattered the family:
According to reports, Bali Devi's 16-year-old son, Shubham, was murdered under suspicious circumstances on the night of June 29. Shubham had gone to buy milk, but his body was found in a village street late at night. The post-mortem report revealed that he had been strangled and beaten to death.
Murder charges against two people, including a former Sarpanch:
Shubham's mother, Bali Devi, blamed the former village Sarpanch, Rajendra Khurana alias Billa, and another man, Rajendra Tomar, for her son's murder. She claimed they had a long-standing rivalry with the two accused, stemming from a complaint filed a year ago regarding her daughter's molestation. The family alleges that the police shelved the case after initial investigations, and no arrests have been made.
Bali Devi was exhausted, seeking justice:
After the deaths of her husband and brother-in-law, Bali Devi was the sole breadwinner of her family. After her son's murder, she repeatedly visited police and administrative offices seeking justice, even appealing to the Chief Minister. However, four months later, she was frustrated by the lack of action. A few days ago, she even staged a protest outside the District Secretariat.
Took the suicidal step after returning from her sister's house:
Police investigations have revealed that Bali Devi went to her sister's house in Tarawadi with her daughter on Saturday morning. Upon returning, the two men went straight to the canal bank, tied their hands with a rope, and jumped in. Young men present at the scene immediately jumped into the canal, saving their lives.
An atmosphere of anger and grief gripped the village:
As news of the incident spread, Chaura village was filled with grief and anger. Villagers say that if the police had acted promptly in the Shubham murder case, this tragic incident would not have occurred. People have demanded that the administration ensure justice for the mother and daughter and that the culprits be arrested soon.
