Head of Department Dr. Priyanka Puri said that the competition was based on the provisions related to restoration of marital rights and divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Eight teams participated in the competition. Each team consisted of two speakers and a researcher.
The objective of this competition was to provide an opportunity to the students to increase their knowledge of law, reasoning skills and self-confidence. All the teams were given a fixed time to present their views and then the judges also asked them questions.
The preliminary and semi-final competitions were judged by former student lawyers of the college who are now active in the field of law. In the final round, the jury consisted of Dr. Inderpreet Kaur (GNDU Regional Centre, Jalandhar) and Dr. Brajesh Sharma (SGGRC, Hoshiarpur). They awarded marks to the students based on their confidence, understanding of the subject and presentation.
The competition gave the students a deeper understanding of legal subjects and also gave them practice in presenting their ideas effectively. The winning and runner-up teams in the match are B.A.L.B. They were in the fourth semester of B.Ed. (Hons.). On this occasion, Principal Dr. R.N. Singh said that in view of the encouraging performance of the students, more such programmes will be organised in future.
