Nawanshahr- On the occasion of 134th birth anniversary of world's great philosopher, economist, social reformer and constitution maker Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, District Administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a district level function at DAN College of Education for Women Nawanshahr under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh.
In this function, MLA Banga and Chairman of Punjab Container and Warehouse Corporation Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, MLA Nawanshahr Dr. Nachattar Pal, Vice Chairman of Punjab State Technical Education and Industrial Training Board Lalit Mohan Pathak Ballu, Chairman of District Planning Committee Satnam Singh Jalalpur, Chairman of Nagar Sudhar Trust Nawanshahr Satnam Singh Jalwaha, President of Nagar Council Nawanshahr Balwinder Kaur, Chairman of Market Committee Nawanshahr Gagan Agnihotri and other dignitaries participated and paid tribute to Baba Saheb.
While addressing the gathering, various speakers explained the principles of social, economic and political equality of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and described him as a person who changed the era. He said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fulfilling the dream of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar in true sense by appointing 6 ministers belonging to Scheduled Castes in the cabinet and for the first time by making reservation in the office of Advocate General.
He said that the Punjab Government has celebrated Baba Saheb's birth anniversary in all the districts of the state, so that Baba Saheb's ideas can be spread to every village and city of Punjab. Similarly, the Punjab Government has also made it easy to give SC scholarship to students, so that every needy student is not deprived of higher education. Due to the efforts of the Punjab Government, today for the first time it has happened that every citizen is celebrating the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb, whose life was dedicated to equality, justice, rights of needy people, fight against untouchability and caste system.
He said that Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar has written the best constitution for us and now it is our duty to contribute to the progress of the society and the country by honestly accepting the rights and duties given in this constitution. He said that Dr. Ambedkar gave the rights of equality and progress to the oppressed people and women. He also called upon the children to achieve higher positions through education.
During this, Deputy Director (IT) of Lamarin Tech Skill University Gurpreet Singh Saini gave detailed information about Ashirwad Yojana, Post Matric Scholarship and other welfare schemes. On this occasion, a booklet on welfare schemes of Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Minority Groups was also released.
