Hoshiarpur- Councilor Ashok Mehra, a close associate of former cabinet minister Sundar Sham Arora and councilor of ward number 4 of the city, is accused of illegally occupying land and constructing in Gautam Nagar area. Due to which discussions have become heated in political circles. On the other hand, Mehra denied the allegations and said that he has the registry.
According to information, Pankaj, a resident of Mohalla Bassi Khawaju, has filed a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner and demanded action. In the complaint, he said that there is a vacant plot (17/85) behind Noor Beauty Parlor in Gautam Nagar near SAV Jain Day-Boarding, on which Ashok Mehra has illegally occupied the plot and is constructing. He said that he was stopped from doing so, but he is threatening them to do whatever they want. Pankaj said that he had earlier filed a complaint in this regard at the City Police Station (on March 10, 2025). Pankaj appealed to the Municipal Commissioner to take strict action against the said person.
The plot in question belongs to Jatinder Lal.
The son’s name is being said to be Bishan Lal son of Rai Bahadur Jodha Mall and its Khasra number is being said to be 144. Whereas the Khasra number of the land purchased by Ashok Mehra is 143 and he has only 1.5 marla registration with him, which is at some other place. But on this pretext, Mehra is allegedly trying to occupy the said place. Due to which the acquaintances of the said owners are filing complaints and demanding action.
 It has also been learnt from the Municipal Corporation that after the complaint, the officials had stopped the work. Pankaj said that Mehra is trying to occupy this vacant land by taking illegal advantage of his position and influence. On the other hand, Ashok Mehra said that he had registered the said land 3-4 months ago and he has come to the tehsil to take the fard. When asked how much land he has and from whom he bought it, he could not give a clear answer.
