Journalist accused of attack on doctors will be arrested soon: Dr. Balbir Singh

Representatives of doctors' organization Punjab Civil Medical Service Association met him. On the night of October 20, a journalist of a Hindi daily in Jalandhar allegedly abused and assaulted government medical officers in an emergency while in a state of intoxication. Because of which there is a lot of resentment among the hospital officials and staff. The protest continued for two days after the incident.
Due to the delay in the FIR, the services of the hospital were stopped for two hours. The press note issued with the signatures of PCMSA President Dr. Akhil Sareen and other key office bearers has said. That the Minister of Health and the Director of Health Services also had to intervene to file a case against the accused. The accused Amit Shorey is still not in the custody of the police. The doctors have expressed displeasure that despite the government's assurance, such incidents are happening and the police also have a lax attitude.
The press note also said that after meeting with the doctors, the health minister issued strict instructions to the police officers and assured the association that Shorey would be arrested in the next 24 hours. He expressed his firm commitment to ensuring the safety of healthcare workers and made it clear that such incidents of violence against doctors would not be tolerated.
 The Health Minister has said that he will personally look into the matter to ensure that justice is served. Expressing satisfaction over the support received from the Health Minister, PCMSA has demanded that as per the assurance given by the Health Minister, adequate security arrangements should be made for the doctors and the commitment made for restoration of DACP should also be fulfilled.
