Giving information about the mini kits of summer vegetable seeds made available by the Horticulture Department in the district under the Home Garden Scheme, he said that vegetables contain plenty of vitamins, minerals, salts and fiber, which increase the human body's ability to fight diseases. Vegetables can be grown in the empty space of houses or in fields to meet the needs of your family. On this occasion, Assistant Director Horticulture Dr. Rajesh Kumar informed that the Horticulture Department is providing 1500 vegetable seed kits during the month of February-March in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. These kits contain seeds of 10 types of vegetables, which include bottle gourd pumpkin, chapan pumpkin, halwa pumpkin, bottle gourd tori, tinda, bitter gourd, ladyfinger, lobia, tar, cucumber. These can be sown during this period.
He informed that according to the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, every person should consume 380 grams of vegetables and 100 grams of fruits daily in a balanced diet. The price of a mini kit of vegetable seeds is Rs 80. This vegetable seed mini kit can be obtained from the head office of the Horticulture Department or block offices.
On this occasion, Horticulture Development Officer Dr. Paramjit Singh, Sub-Divisional Land Conservation Officer Krishna Kumar Duggal and DC's PA Jasvir Singh were also present.
