
District level celebration of Betiyon ki Lohri celebrated with great pomp
Nawanshahr- As per the guidelines issued by Director, Social Security and Women & Child Development Department, Punjab, District Administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman organized a district level Lohri celebration for newborn girls at local Baradari Bagh today with great pomp under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme.

Lok Sabha member Malvinder Singh Kang was the chief guest on the occasion and wished Lohri to the newborn girls as well as their parents. He said that in today's era girls are also making their mark in various fields like boys, so the need of the hour is that girls should be motivated to move ahead in every field. On this occasion, MLA Balachaur Santosh Kataria, MLA Banga Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Vice President of Punjab Technical Education Board Lalit Mohan Pathak, Chairman of District Planning Committee Satnam Jalalpur, Halka Incharge Banga Kuljit Singh Sarhal, Chairman Member of Market Committee Gagan Agnihotri also participated in the program and extended their best wishes.
Apart from this, on behalf of the district administration, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajiv Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Avneet Kaur, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nawanshah Dr. Akshita Gupta also gave the message of equality between boys and girls. On this occasion, infant care kits and baby blankets were distributed to newborn girls and track suits and sports shoes were provided to the girl students who excelled in the field of sports. Along with this, the girl students who achieved merit in the educational field were honored by giving school bags. The stage was conducted by the President of Child Welfare Committee Sonia Angrish. A wonderful cultural program was also presented by the girls during the program.
On this occasion, District Program Officer Jagroop Singh said that the main objective of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is to improve the sex ratio and promote girls' education. So that the girls of our society can prove their identity in the future and they can get equal status as boys in the society. During the program, Child Development Project Officer Banga Davinder Kaur, Pankaj Sharma Child Development Project Officer Balachaur along with all the supervisors, Superintendent Sunita Sharma from District Program Office, Kanchan Arora District Child Protection Officer, District Coordinator Women Hub Supriya Thakur, Him Shikha from One Step Center and all the staff were present.
