Nawanshahr: District Magistrate, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Rajesh Dhiman, exercising his powers under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023 to maintain law and order situation at public places in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, has banned the gathering of five or more persons, raising slogans/provocative speeches, holding processions/meetings/rallies at public places without permission.
This ban will remain in force till January 31, 2025. He said that under special circumstances, public meetings, processions or rallies can be organized with the prior permission of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. The concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate will keep in view the orders issued from time to time by the Government of India, Government of Punjab and District Magistrate while granting approval for this purpose.
He has exempted military personnel and government employees in police/army uniform from this ban on singing praises of God during duty and at weddings/mourning gatherings/religious places and institutions.
