
74 percent of paddy has been lifted from the Mandis of Punjab, 100 percent lifting will be done in the coming week – Harchand Singh Barsat
Mohali / Chandigarh, November 14, 2024 – Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board, S. Harchand Singh Barsat said that the work of arrival and purchase of paddy is going on smoothly in all the Mandis of Punjab State and lifting is also happening fast. So far, about 74 percent of the lifting has been done from the Mandis of the state and 100 percent lifting will be done in the coming week.
Mohali / Chandigarh, November 14, 2024 – Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board, S. Harchand Singh Barsat said that the work of arrival and purchase of paddy is going on smoothly in all the Mandis of Punjab State and lifting is also happening fast. So far, about 74 percent of the lifting has been done from the Mandis of the state and 100 percent lifting will be done in the coming week.
He informed that so far 151.71 lakh metric tons of paddy crop has arrived in the state's mandis and 146.80 lakh metric tons have been purchased, out of which 146.44 lakh metric tons have been purchased by government agencies. So far 108.15 lakh metric tons of paddy has been lifted from the mandis.
Mr. Barsat informed that 60,00,858 metric tons have been purchased by Pangrain, 1,29,978 metric tons by FCI, 37,49,297 metric tons by Markfed, 30,86,363 metric tons by Punsup, 16,77,089 metric tons by warehouse and 36,546 metric tons by private traders. He informed that so far Ludhiana district has procured the highest amount of paddy i.e. 13,89,022 metric tonnes, while Patiala is at the second spot with 11,45,832 metric tonnes and Sangrur is at the third spot with 10,40,191 metric tonnes.
On Wednesday, 4.03 lakh metric tonnes of paddy crop arrived in the mandis, while 3.97 lakh metric tonnes were procured and 5.86 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was lifted. He said that the Punjab government and Punjab Mandi Board have made strong arrangements to run the procurement operations in the mandis smoothly, so that the farmers bringing their crops to the mandis do not face any kind of problem.
The payment of the crop to the farmers is being made directly in their bank accounts. Mr. Barsat said that the government of Punjab's Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann stands with the farmers, commission agents, labourers, sheller owners and they will not be allowed to face any kind of problem.
