She said that under the ‘Every Friday, Fight Dengue’ campaign launched by the Punjab Government, the teams of the Health Department are going door-to-door and conducting investigations, while also providing information to the people about precautions to prevent dengue fever, symptoms, causes and treatment of fever. She appealed to the people that to prevent dengue, they should not let water stagnate anywhere in and around their homes.
She said that if dengue fever occurs for any reason, there is no need to panic. The patient should be brought to a government health institution where dengue test and treatment are absolutely free. The patient should drink plenty of fluids like water, juice, lemon water, coconut water etc. and rest. For any information, the health department's helpline number 104 can be contacted.
Symptoms of Dengue Fever
Dengue is a fever that is caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Common symptoms of dengue include severe headache and high fever, pain in muscles and joints, pain behind the eyes, bleeding from the nose, mouth and gums in severe cases, nausea and vomiting, etc.
Mosquitoes that spread dengue breed in standing clean water such as in coolers, water tanks, flower pots, trays behind refrigerators, broken/abandoned utensils and empty tires and water drums etc. Water should not be allowed to stand in these. Health Supervisor Gurtej Singh, CHO Sunaina Sharma, health worker Raghbir Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
