Training given to employees under International Sign Language Day

Hoshiarpur - A one-day training session was conducted by the district administration in view of the International Sign Language Day for the protection and awareness of the rights of deaf and dumb persons. Giving information in this regard, District Social Security Officer Manpreet Singh said that under the theme of International Sign Language Day, 'Sign Up for Sign Language Rights', training was given to officers/employees of all departments on 'Indian Sign Language'. He said that on this occasion, Principal Aman Jyoti, an expert in sign language from Pingalwara Asha Kiran School for Deaf, Kakkan, trained all the employees in English letters, Punjabi language (Panti) and counting in sign language. Apart from this, training was given in sign language of words and phrases used in daily life. He said that Sarabjit Kaur was honored for her good performance in the training under the Wings Project run by the District Red Cross, in which employment is provided to special children through the canteen. During the training, all the employees agreed to learn sign language.
