Garhshankar: To immediately cancel the unjust proposal of the Central Government to provide land and money for the construction of the capital of Haryana in Chandigarh; A memorandum was sent to the Prime Minister by the Indian Revolutionary Marxist Party under the leadership of the party's District Secretary Comrade Piara Singh through SDM Garhshankar.
In this regard, the party's Tehsil Garhshankar Secretary Comrade Ram Ji Das Chauhan said that this proposal of the Center is completely unjust, unconstitutional and hurts the sentiments of the people of Punjab. Because only Punjab has the right to Chandigarh because it was settled by razing the villages of Punjab.
According to the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966, it was decided that Chandigarh would remain in Punjab and the capital of Haryana would be built at some other place. In the Rajiv Longowal Agreement of 1985 and other inter-state agreements, it was also agreed to give Chandigarh to Punjab. Even knowing these facts, this proposal of the central government raises many doubts.
One of the main reasons for the suffering that the people of Punjab have suffered in the eighth and ninth decades of the last century was not handing over Chandigarh to Punjab. Without learning the lessons of the past, if the center still takes any step to make Chandigarh the capital of Haryana, then an atmosphere of bitterness may arise between the people of Punjab and Haryana. Which can be taken advantage of by elements that are anti-national and anti-Punjab and the people of both the states may have to face troubles.
At this time, it was demanded that the central government should reject this proposal and hand over Chandigarh to Punjab immediately and that other issues related to this should also be resolved in a logical and fair manner. At this time, Kulbhushan Mahindwani, Davinder Kumar Rana, Malkiat Singh Bahowal, Makhan Singh Langeri, Comrade Sucha Ram, Shingara Ram Bhajjal, Gopal Das Manhotra and Sham Sundar were present.
