6446 percent polling in first phase Many stalwarts cast their votes
Bihar:- Polling for 121 seats in the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 am and continued till 5 pm. In the first phase, a total of 3.75 crore voters will decide the political fate of 1314 candidates including India Alliance Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav and BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Tight security arrangements have been made at polling booths for voting.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that 64.46 percent voting was recorded in the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar till 5 pm. Out of 18 districts, Begusarai recorded the highest voting at 67.32 percent, Gopalganj at 64.96 percent and Muzaffarpur at 64.63 percent. 55.02 percent votes were cast in Patna district.
Till 5:00 pm, Bhojpur district recorded 53.24 percent voting, followed by Buxar at 55.10 percent, Darbhanga at 58.38 percent, Khagaria at 60.65 percent, Munger at 54.90 percent, Nalanda at 57.58 percent, Saharsa at 62.65 percent, Samastipur at 66.65 percent, Saran at 60.90 percent, Sheikhpura at 52.36 percent, Siwan at 57.41 percent and Vaishali at 59.45 percent. Among the major constituencies, Raghopur recorded 64.01 percent voting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged voters to vote enthusiastically. In his post on X, he said, "Today is the first phase of the celebration of democracy in Bihar.
I urge all voters to vote enthusiastically in this phase of the assembly elections." Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also urged voters to exercise their franchise in the 'festival of democracy' and congratulated the young voters who voted for the first time.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also urged the people of Bihar to come out of their homes and vote in large numbers. Priyanka said in a post on X, "Dear brothers, sisters, mothers and youth of Bihar! Today is the day to decide your future in your own hands.
Come out in large numbers and participate in this great festival of democracy. Vote for jobs, education, health and a bright future for Bihar, and protect our democracy, Constitution and your right to vote.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also appealed to the voters of Bihar to vote in large numbers. He said that this is a golden opportunity to teach a lesson to the opportunistic rulers who have betrayed the people.
