6196 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured from Punjab mandis
Mohali, October 23, 2025- Punjab Mandi Board Chairman S. Harchand Singh Burst reviewed the ongoing paddy procurement operations in the mandis of the state. He said that the arrival and procurement operations of paddy are going on smoothly in all the mandis of the state of Punjab and lifting is also happening rapidly. He said that till October 22, 64.20 lakh metric tonnes of paddy crop has arrived in the mandis of the state.
Out of which 61.96 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured and about 71 percent of the procured crop has been lifted. Sardar Burst said that 1822 notified mandis and 651 temporary procurement centers have been set up in the state of Punjab for smooth procurement of paddy.
64.20 lakh metric tonnes of paddy crop has arrived in the state's mandis till October 22 and 61.96 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured, out of which 61.80 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured by government agencies. So far, 43.72 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the mandis.
He said that 25,94,072 metric tonnes have been procured by PUNGRAIN, 14,985 metric tonnes by FCI, 16,12,128 metric tonnes by Markfed, 12,43,777 metric tonnes by PUNSUP, 7,14,899 metric tonnes by warehouses and 16,307 metric tonnes by private traders. He said that so far, the highest amount of 6,98,864 metric tons of paddy has been purchased in Tarn Taran district.
While Patiala is at the second position with 6,52,727 metric tons and Ferozepur is at the third position with 4,95,922 metric tons of paddy. Last Wednesday, 5.30 lakh metric tons of paddy crop arrived in the mandis, while 5.09 lakh metric tons have been purchased and 4.65 lakh metric tons of paddy have been lifted.
The Chairman said that the Punjab Government led by Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann stands with the farmers, arhtiyas and laborers. The crop of the farmers who have reached the mandis with paddy will be purchased grain by grain.
So that the farmers who bring their crops to the mandis do not have to face any kind of problem, proper arrangements have been made in the mandis of the state for cleanliness, electricity, drinking water, bathrooms, shade and seating etc., so that the farmers can sell their crops without any delay.
Giving further information, he said that a control room has also been set up at the head office of the Punjab Mandi Board. The telephone numbers of the control room are 0172-5101649 and 0172-5101704, so that the problems arising in the mandis can be resolved as soon as possible.
The officers of the head office of the Mandi Board are checking the mandis by visiting them. They appealed to the farmers to bring the crops to the mandis only after drying them, so that they do not face any kind of problem while selling the crops.
