56 mm rain in one night Heavy rain expected till July 7
Bathinda:- With the full activation of the southwest monsoon, 56 mm rain was recorded in Bathinda district on Wednesday night. Due to this rain, people have got great relief from the intense heat and humidity. On the other hand, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rain with thundershowers and strong winds in most parts of Punjab from July 2 to 7.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to this activity of the monsoon, good rain may fall in many places in the coming days as well. This will bring further drop in temperature and people will continue to get relief from the heat.
Boon for crops and reduction in expensesAccording to agricultural experts, this rain will prove to be a boon for paddy sowing, cotton, maize, vegetables and fodder crops. Due to increased soil moisture, the need for irrigation of fields will be reduced, which will lead to huge savings in electricity and diesel and reduce the expenses of farmers. Along with this, the groundwater level is expected to improve and the animals will also get a comfortable environment from the heat.
Special advice for farmers (Advisory) Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Meteorologist of Punjab Agricultural University's Regional Research Center, Bathinda, has advised farmers to make complete arrangements for water drainage in the fields. She said that during the rains, applying fertilizers and spraying pesticides in the fields should be avoided. Farmers should decide their next agricultural work only on the basis of the latest weather information.
