55 Candidates File Nomination Papers for District Council in Una District
Una, May 11: Under the nomination process for the General Elections of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) 2026, a total of 55 candidates from Una district have filed their nomination papers for the District Council. On Monday—the final day of the nomination process—a total of 31 candidates submitted their nomination papers. This information was provided by the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Una, Jatin Lal.
It is worth noting that on the first day of the nomination process, 10 candidates had filed their papers for the District Council, while on the second day, 14 candidates had submitted their nominations.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that on the final day of the nomination process (Monday), 8 candidates filed their papers for the District Council wards falling under the Una sub-division. These include Somdutt, Suchand Sharma, and Raj Kumar from Ward 7 (Takka); Diksha Saini from Ward 8 (Chatara); Ram Bahadur Ponjala, Avinash Kumar, and Sonia Rana from Ward 9 (Dehlan Upper); and Priyanka Sharma from Ward 10 (Raipur Sahoran).
Similarly, 7 candidates filed their nominations under the Haroli sub-division. These include Rosie, Sanyogita Rani, and Jyoti Bala from Ward 11 (Bathu); Kewal Singh and Nirmal Kaur from Ward 13 (Haroli); Prem Singh from Ward 13 (Haroli); and Sulinder Pal Kaur from Ward 12 (Dulaihar).
Under the Bangana sub-division, 4 candidates filed nomination papers for the District Council. These include Vishal Singh and Pawan Kumar from Ward 4 (Sohari); Reena Devi from Ward 6 (Dhanet); and Anita Devi from Ward 5 (Lathiani).
In the Gagret sub-division, 7 candidates filed nominations for the District Council. These include Pawan Kumar and Manish Raju from Ward 15 (Ambota); Aarti Devi, Preeti, and Deepika Sharma from Ward 16 (Chalet); and Gurmukh Singh and Vijay Kumar from Ward 17 (Lower Bhanjal). Additionally, five candidates from the Amb subdivision have filed their nominations for the District Council wards. These include Rajiv Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar from Ward 1 (Mubarikpur); Harjinder Kaur and Sunita Kumari from Ward 2 (Kuthera Khairla); and Sarwan Singh from Ward 3 (Thathal).
The District Election Officer stated that the process of filing nomination papers has been completed. The scrutiny of nomination papers will now take place on May 12 at 10:00 AM, while candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations on May 14 and 15. Upon the completion of the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates, and the final list will be published.
