Mohali: A 54-year-old female patient got a new life after a rare neurosurgical procedure at Livasa Hospital, Punjab’s leading NABH accredited super-specialty hospital.
The woman was diagnosed with fourth ventricle choroid plexus papilloma, a rare and challenging condition located inside the brain.
Giving information, Consultant Neurosurgery Dr Amanjot Singh Boparai said that two important neurosurgical latest neuronavigation and intraoperative ultrasound techniques were used in this case.
Despite the location and complexity of the tumor, the surgery was performed successfully. The patient has improved significantly after the surgery and was discharged within 10-12 days. Dr Boparai said that the patient is now well, his vision has returned and he is able to do his daily activities.
He added that this case was very challenging due to the location of the tumor and the neurological risk. Using state-of-the-art techniques like neuronavigation and intraoperative ultrasound, we were able to remove the entire tumor with post-operative recovery.
